Blair receives lifetime achievement award, PTK wins state award

Barbara Blair, Phi Theta Kappa advisor and SWTJC history instructor, was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership and Service to the Texas Region" in Houston, Texas on March 1.

Blair was honored for her 38 years of service to the Eta Beta Chapter at the 2014 Texas Regional Convention. "I’m honored to have been given this award and it has been a complete joy to work with Phi Theta Kappa for all these years," Blair said.

Blair will be retiring from teaching at SWTJC this summer after 44 years of service.

Other awards won by the SWTJC Uvalde Eta Beta Chapter include: five-star chapter award; Icarus Award and the Honors in Action Award of Merit.


Eta Beta members Richard Jones, David Burchfield, Ashley Campos, Pedro Navarro and Sandra Martinez were named to the District V Hall of Honor, George Melchor was inducted into the Hall of Honor as a regional member.
